JANDIA


The town of Jandia covers the entire south western part of the island of Fuerteventura, which forms the westernmost and southernmost parts of the island. The town is mainly mountainous and rocky and has less vegetation compared to some other towns in the island. The town also features the island of Fuerteventura’s tallest mountain, known as “Pico De Juandia” or “Pico De Zarza”, which elevates up to nearly 807 m. The northern part of the town boasts a five-kilometer isthmus known as the “Isthmo De Pared”, which forms the narrowest part of the island. Located in the western part of the island are several of the most attractive and sandiest beaches in Fuerteventura and these beaches are most frequently enjoyed by water sports enthusiasts.


Situated in the northwestern coast, Jandia bears a small fishing town of Colete and further up north, is the Villa Winter (pronounced as VEEN-ter, which was named after Gustav Winter), located near the mountains.


As previously mentioned, the town is recognized that the most exquisite beaches in the island of Fuerteventura are situated in the town of Jandia. Extending from merely a part of Costa Calma all the way towards Morro Jable, the countryside’s one of countless beaches, sand dunes and crystal clear sea.
