CORRALEJO


The town of Corralejo is located in the northern part of the island of Fuerteventura, a part of the Canary Islands, facing towards the small islet of Lobos (also known as the “Islote De Lobos”), and is also situated in the municipality of La Oliva. Corralejo extends up to approximately 3.2 km, which makes it the largest holiday resort in the said island.


At its core, the town still exists as a traditional fishing village. Nevertheless, there are a lot of new establishments which are located behind and to the other side of the said town. Excursions in the town of Corralejo are held and organized usually from the port towards Lanzarote, and the volcanic island of Lobos which is located not far from the aforementioned place.


The town’s hottest attraction are the town’s beaches and the area extends up to 11 km of fine sand starting 2 miles (3.2 km) outside of Corralejo, together with several smaller bays beside the coast. Furthermore, there are several miles of sand dunes situated not far away which was designated as a nature reserve. The waters which surrounds the town of Corralejo are clear and bears an intense shade of blue, but also possess strong currents. The town’s beaches are somewhat more protected and have a band of volcanic rock from the end of the shoreline.


Due to the town’s magnificent infrastructure, tourists are able to do water spots, which includes scuba diving, wind surfing and/or water skiing. The backdrop for these stretches of sand are the impressive dunes which forms a part of the Corralejo Nature Reserve. The town’s apparent dryness of the landscape differs with the countless native species of plant life which grow about the place.


Most of the original houses which can be found in the town of Corralejo have already been turned into shops and restaurants but there are still a few, which are known to be simple, quaint and peaceful.


The town of Corralejo indeed provides for all ages and offers a wide variety of things to do, ranging from water sports and all other sports such as tennis. Provides activities including the glass bottom boat trips, the previously mentioned ferry trips towards the area of Lanzarote, jeep safaris, island tours, mountain biking, motorbiking, and a lot more.
