Catedral De La Merced The Catedral de La Merced was classified as a cathedral during the year 1953, but prior to that, the Iglesia De La Merced was used to serve as a church of the Convento De La Merced, its neighboring convent. It is one of Huelva province’s best examples of Baroque architecture, with its bright white interior and its striking pink exterior. It certainly overlooks the Plaza De Merced, a stylish yet classic square surrounded with beautiful palm trees. B. Museo De Huelva Located on the Avenida Sundheim’s modern building, Huelva’s provincial museum, Museo De Huelva provides a magnificent and remarkable archeological collection. The museum offers articles from the megalithic sites of La Zarcita at Santa Bárbara de las Casas and El Pozuelo at Zalamea La Real; Phoenician and Greek artifacts found through excavations in the city, along with the Tartessian treasure from the necropolis at La Joya, and Moorish artifacts are additionally on display. C. Iglesia De San Pedro Located on the hilltop site of a mosque, near the remains of a medieval fortress, Iglesia De San Pedro was built during the 15th and 16th century, making it the city of Huelva’s oldest parish church. It faces the Plaza San Pedro, an adorable palm tree-lined square. A wooded hill with picturesque views over the city, located on the northern part of the church is the Cabezo De San Pedro. The church was classified as a Site of Cultural Interest during the year 1999. D. Nuestra Señora De La Cinta Commanding a picturesque view of the Odiel wetlands, the Nuestra Señora De La Cinta is located on El Conquero hill, which is approximately three kilometers in the northern part of the city center. The 15th century whitewashed chapel is widely known for its association to Christopher Columbus. Just like most sanctuaries and hermitages, Nuestra Señora De La Cinta was originally constructed outside the town center and was used to be confined within the fields and open countryside, which are now being occupied by the Conquero residential district’s apartment blocks. Further, similar to other main touristic zones, Nuestra Señora De La Cinta has also been stated as a Site of Cultural Interest.
