VI. Gastronomy

The city of Granada’s gastronomy along with Andalusia is indeed opulent and varied, and fitting into the sumptuous limits of the Andalusian cuisine, the city of Granada’s gastronomy can be attributed to both its geography and its rich cultural history. In fact, the city’s food can even be considered as the main reason itself for visiting Granada.

The food in Andalusia, and in Granada of course, portrays a huge reliance on fresh vegetables, vinegar, salt and olive oil. Frequently, Granada’s food creations come in the form of soups, stews and pottages, and therefore, it was once told that you must never tour without a spoon within yourself, since most gastronomical tours will offer you the previously mentioned dishes. Further, these tasty dishes range from light, cold, summer soups such as “ajo blanco” and “gazpacho” to thick, like “olle de San Antón”, which is just about perfect for winter evenings.

Granada features a huge amount of bars and restaurants where tourists can satisfy their cravings or hunger over the city’s most delectable dishes, and a few of those dishes are remojón, hasbas con jamón (beans and ham), migas, Sacromonte omelet and gazpacho.

Moreover, Granada is the home of “arte del tapeo” or “tapas art”. The most popular Tapas areas are: Campo del Principe, Realejo, Plaza de Toros Y Zona Centro and Albaicin.
