I. INTRODUCTION

Granada, the city and capital of the Granada province, located in the autonomous community of Andalusia, Spain, near the convergence of the three rivers Genil, Darro, Beiro, placed at the bottom of the Sierra Nevada mountains, elevated at 738 meters beyond sea level, but still can take merely an hour if travelled from the Mediterranean coast, the Costa Tropical. Located nearby is the Sierra Nevada Ski Resort wherein the FIS Airplane World Ski Championship was held back in1996.

The city of Granada is known to be one of the most magnificent places in the eastern part of Andalusia. A perfect example of Spanish Renaissance architecture and the most contemporary facilities, quintessential of the 21st century meets a remarkable Andalusian legacy.

The city of Granada is famous not only in Andalusia, but also within Spain because of its prestigious University of Granada, and presently, their dynamic night life.

III. GENERAL INFORMATION:

A. Impressions Of Important Characters Throughout Time

During the 13th century, Al Suqundi mentioned the following regarding the city of Granada:

"Granada is the Damascus of Al-Andalus, a pasture for the eyes, an elevation of the soul. It has an in-expugnable castle of tall walls and magnificent buildings. It stands out for the singularity of its river, which disseminates through its houses, baths, Moorish markets, internal and external mills and gardens".

Victor Hugo, however, during the 19th century, said the following about the city of Granada:

“Be it near or far, Spanish or Arabic, There is not one single city, Which dare dispute, With Granada, the beautiful, The prize of beauty, Nor any that show, With more enchantment or jollity, Brighter eastern sparkles, Under a more serene sky".

In the 19th century, this was Pedro Antonio de Alarcón’s impression about Granada:

“Who has not heard of and admired Granada without even visiting it?”

These impressions and/or opinions regarding Granada, among others became well-known, and they continued to attract numerous of tourists up to this moment which kept the city of Granada even more attractive and vibrant through and through.

B. People A census that was held during the year 2005, indicated that the city proper’s population was estimated to be 235,982, while the urban area has an estimate population of 472,638, making it as the 13th largest urban area of Spain. Apparently, not all natives of Granada possess the Spanish citizenship. In fact, nearly 3.5% only possess the said citizenship, while the largest part of the other people, (about 31%) are coming from South America.

According to some theories, majority of the natives of Granada city, or the “Granadinos” do not possess a good reputation and they are well-known for being ill-tempered. It was mentioned that most Granadinos are less friendly and cheerful than the average Spaniard. However, there are more articles, observations, opinions and experiences that claims this theory wrong. According to some, the people of Granada are exceptionally outgoing, friendly and very hospitable as well.
